- Melt butter in small saucepan.
- Sauté oats in butter (enough to lightly coat the oats) for several minutes. Should have a nutty aroma.
- Add boiling water. Add a pinch of salt for each part of oats.
- Stir occasionally for 20 minutes. Should be on the drier side, rather than porridge-like.
- *At around the 10 min mark, make sure you’re watching & stirring it. It starts to stick to the bottom of the pan at this point.
- Top with nuts, banana, vanilla yogurt, etc.
OR: (Apple Cinnamon)
*Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal*: Add cinnamon to oats while sautéing, before water. Omit the salt. Half way through cooking, add half a chopped (peeled) apple (apple peel gets a little chewy/tough if you leave it on). Also add a spoonful of brown sugar with the apple.
