Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3+ cups flour (300-400g)
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt (2 t also works well)

Instructions

You can use your stand-mixer or hands for this.

  1. Combine the yeast and honey.
  2. And add 1 cup warm water to it. Warm but still very comfortable to touch. (115°F is good. 140°F is too hot)
  3. Let the machine spin to combine it all or give it a stir and let it sit in a bowl for 5 minutes to activate it.
  4. Once the yeast is activated, add the salt. Whisk or stir to dissolve.
  5. Add the oil and 1 cup of flour. Fully incorporate the first cup before adding the rest.
  6. Knead dough with your hands for a few minutes to create a supple dough.
  7. Lightly oil a big bowl. Place the dough in the oiled bowl turn the dough over so it’s coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a tea towel and put it in a draft-free place-(maybe in oven or microwave).
  8. Fast forward to 2 hours later.
  9. Punch it down and transfer to a pizza pan or parchment lined pan. Use flour or oil to make the dough more manageable, do so without adding too much more flour.
  10. Use the sides of your hands to create the border, push it down in the center and use your hand or finger tips to gently stretch the dough while turning it around.
  11. Top with toppings!
  12. Bake 230°C / 450°F for 12-15 mins

If freezing the pizza, or making for later:

  1. Par-bake the crust without toppings. Optional: Brush edges with olive oil & sprinkle w/garlic salt.
  2. Bake at 200° C for 5 mins. When ready to cook & eat, top crust with sauce & toppings and bake for 12 minutes.
