Meat Sauce
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp basil
- 1 1/2 tsp fennel
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 12 oz (354 ml) tomato paste
- 28 oz (828 ml) canned stewed tomatoes
- 10 + lasagna noodles
Cheese layer
- 24 oz (700 g) cottage cheese or ricotta
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tbsp parsley
- 1 can of sliced black olives
- 1 lb mozzarella cheese, grated (or more)
Instructions
- Sauté ground beef, onion & garlic together.
- Simmer all meat sauce ingredients (except noodles) together, at least 20 minutes.
- Mix cheese layer ingredients together.
- In 9×13 pan: spread a thin layer of meat sauce on bottom of pan.
- Layer: Lasagna noodles, meat, egg/cheese & mozzarella 3x
- Cover tightly with foil (may need to spray foil so cheese doesn’t stick to it). Bake at 375° F / 190° C for 30 minutes.
- Uncover. Bake another 30 minutes.
- Let rest at least 10 minutes before cutting into.
