Flavored Candy-Caramel Corn (mom’s)

This is a harder coated corn – more of a candy coating. Definitely sticks to your teeth, but so yummy!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar (338 g)
  • 1/2 cup clear syrup (Karo brand works well)
  • 1 cup butter (227 g)
  • 3 poppers of popcorn (1 popper = 1/3 c. corn kernels)
  • 1 tsp flavoring (cinnamon, peppermint, etc.)
  • food coloring

Instructions

  1. Cook sugar, syrup & butter to almost the hard-ball stage (260º F).
  2. Add flavoring & food coloring, mixing well.
  3. Pour over popcorn, mix quickly.
  4. Spread & cool on waxed paper sheets (helps to butter your hands. Gets hot!).
  5. Store in covered tin.
