Dinner Rolls (quicker)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour (more if needed)
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast, sugar and warm water in bowl. Let rest 10 minutes to proof.
  2. Combine 1 cup flour & salt in medium bowl.
  3. Heat milk & butter until very warm (120-130°F / 48-55°C).
  4. Add milk, butter, yeast, sugar & water to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally.
  5. Add 1/4 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough.
  6. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  7. Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
  8. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces; shape into balls.
  9. Place in buttered 8-inch round pan. Cover; let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in preheated 375° F / 190° C oven for 20 minutes or until done. Remove from pan; brush with additional melted butter.
  11. Serve warm.

First time making, I used 1 1/2c white, 1/2+ c whole wheat
