Hazelnut Toffee

- 1 cup toasted chopped hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp hazelnut liqueur
- 6 oz (1 c.) semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line large baking sheet with foil, extending foil over edges.
- Sprinkle 1/2 c. of hazelnuts in an 8″ square in the pan. Set aside.
- Butter the sides of a heavy 1 qt saucepan.
- In saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar & water.
- Cook & stir to 280º F or soft-crack stage (about 10 mins)
- Remove from heat. Immediately stir in liqueur; pour on top of nuts in pan
- Sprinkle with chocolate pieces. Let stand 2 minutes.
- When chocolate is soft, spread to cover. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 c. nuts. Cool.
- Holding onto foil, lift out of pan. Break into pieces.
