Taco Pie (keto)
Meat & cheese. That’s pretty much it.
Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or a bit less)
- 1 small onion, chopped (optional)
- 3 tbsp taco seasoning (see below)
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup heavy cream (180 ml)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar is great, dry mozzarella, comté, etc)
- Optional: 1/4c salsa added to cream & eggs
Taco Seasoning (makes more than needed for this recipe)
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp coarse salt
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C.
- Either do everything in dutch oven (what I did), or grease 9″ glass pie pan.
- Brown the ground beef (with onion, if using) in a large skillet/dutch oven over medium heat until no longer pink about 7 minutes, breaking up any clumps with a wooden spoon.
- Add the taco seasoning and stir until combined. Spread the beef mixture in the greased pie pan.
- In separate bowl, combine the eggs, cream, and garlic. Pour slowly over the beef mixture in the pan. Optional: Add a bit of S & P to this mixture (seasoning from meat seems to be enough though).
- Sprinkle with the cheese and bake for 30 minutes or until the center is set and the cheese is browned.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
