Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans, toasted
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13 baking pan with foil. Butter foil with 1 T.
  2. Sprinkle with pecans & chocolate chips. Set aside
  3. In heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt remaining butter.
  4. Add brown sugar, corn syrup & water.
  5. Cook & stir until mixture comes to a boil.
  6. Stir in sweetened condensed milk.
  7. Cook, stirring constantly until candy thermometer reads 248°F / 120°C (firm-ball stage).
  8. Pour into prepared pan (do not scrape saucepan)
  9. Cool completely before cutting.
